Sorry I have not been around. My job as senior guard takes up a lot of time and deputy Rusty is useless, she would not say boo to a goose!
Yesterday I had my first water training. Daddy threw the dummy into a pond and I ran after it. Suddenly I found my paws were not on the ground and I was a bit scared but I discovered that by moving my legs up and down, I could propel myself forward. I soon got the hang of it and it is great fun!
Today a box arrived for Daddy …..new sandals. I am patiently waiting for him to forget to put them out of my reach and I shall zoom it. Nothing beats leather for a good chew and there is the added bonus of velco! Back soon.

Good to chew!

Good to chew!

I am in big trouble today and am in the punishment kennel. Rusty has sneaked Mummy’s iPhone out and I am writing using that.
I woke up early this morning and noticed that Mummy had left the bathroom door open by mistake. What could I see? Daddy’s brand new sandals!! I could not resist and took them both to my basket. I was half way through the straps on the first one and Daddy found me – he was SO cross and, after he had let me out to have a wee, he shut me in the punishment kennel. I am sorry now – I just so enjoy sandals. You can see how wet I made them sucking on the leather. Mummy says she can call the shop and get a new pair. That means there is still one good sandal – I wonder what they will do with it……….?
I am hoping to be let out of here soon – it is so boring and what about my lunch? I will keep you posted and tell you if you need to send me food parcels.

Slip here!! Today I had visitors. Steve came to see Daddy and he brought Saffy and Ruby with him! We had a game in the garden – Ruby is still bruised from her encounter with the motor car but she was able to walk around the garden. The good news is that Steve has no work to do and so he is coming to chop the plaster off the outside of our house and then Daddy will re-plaster it. Steve is starting tomorrow and he may bring Ruby and Saffy with him.
I had to stay in my kennel for most of the morning as M and D went shopping. I did not cry – in fact I quite enjoyed it as I had a new chew and some biscuits.
Rusty is in trouble for attacking the slow worm – that is about all she can catch, she is so slow herself apart from when it comes to batting me on the nose if I corner her.
Now it is dinner time – tonight I have beef stew and two chicken legs!! Back soon.

I am sorry I have not written for ages – the days fly by and Mummy is always using the computer – I want one of my own!!
Guess what?! Both Ruby and Saffy had accidents at the weekend. Steve, their master, went out and forgot to shut the back gate. Ruby got out onto the road and was knocked over by a car. She is very badly bruised and upset and is confined to basket d she has a new nightdress – blue crepe de chine with silver lame straps. In the meantime, Saffy went the other way into a part of the garden she does not normally have access to. She fell in the fish pond and could not get out. She was found hanging onto the side with her two front paws. She is OK – just a bit shaken up. One of the first things that Daddy taught me was NEVER, EVER to go out through the gate and I never have. Rusty is allowed through it but not me!
We planted a new apple tree today and Daddy put something called bone meal in the hole – my, it is delicious! I see there is a large tub of it in the greenhouse – wonder if Rusty could open it with her claws? Now I am going to have a snooze – back tomorrow!

Today has been great fun! Mummy decided that she no longer wanted one of her aquariums as the fish had all died of old age and she has not time to deal with new ones. So Daddy put the end of the hose in the tank and all the water whooshed out of the other end which was in the garden. It was smelly water but tasted delicious and I drank a lot. Then I discovered that the lawn was very soft where all this water was and I dug a big hole and it filled up with water. Daddy was indoors watching the other end of the hose in the tank. I picked up my end and waved it in the air and the dirty water went all over the washing that was on the line!! I made a beeline for the Land Rover and sat in the back – Daddy always leaves the door open for me.
My ruse did not work. The hole was my undoing – the hose could have sprayed the water into the washing but it could not have dug a hole. Mummy was cross and had to wash the clothes again and Daddy had to fill the hole in with sand. I got a good grumbling but I am not sorry – it was worth it!! They said I could only have biscuit for dinner but I don’t care – I feel sick anyway, maybe the smelly water was not good for me! Back tomorrow.

Hello everyone! I am sorry that I have not been around much. I find that I have more and more guard duty as I grow up.
I burned my liip the other day – I licked some hot soup out of a saucepan that Mummy had just put in the dishwasher. I love soup! Talking of food, I had a first yesterday – a pancake! Daddy cooked one especially for me and put blackcurrant jam on it. I also managed to steal one that had been thrown out for the birds.
I am on the senior retrieving program now and can fetch multiple dummies at one time. Daddy bought me 2 new dummies – they are model Dogger 2. Dogger 1 is what I had when I was a baby and it is much lighter than Dogger 2. Shooting has finished until October but we do still go pigeon and rabbit shooting. Fishing starts soon and I shall be doing water retrieves and Daddy says he will teach me to land the fish he catches. Apparently Jessie, my predecessor, used to do this. She used to get into trouble as she would go and and fish for other fishermen and some did not like it!
It is dinner time now – I am having chicken drumsticks and rice pudding – yummy!

I have had an injured paw. I cut it on a sharp piece of tin whilst Daddy and I were pigeon shooting. It did not hurt much but I had to wear a rubber glove over my paw to stop the blood making a mess and to keep it clean. It is better now and the glove has gone.
I have been sad today as Saffy phoned me to say that she got 6 Valentine cards and 2 gifts of bones and Ruby got 3 cards and a sack of biscuits. These were all from unknown admirers. I did not get anything – no one loves me. Rusty did bring a mouse in this afternoon so perhaps that is her Valentine to me.
We are having roast pork tomorrow – I just had six chicken drumsticks for dinner and Mummy and Daddy are going out to eat and I have instructed her to have steak. There is always too much for her to eat and she brings some back for me! Now I am going to play with my ball – back soon!

Hello everyone – I am back! First of all, an update on Ruby. She is much better and the fur on her tummy is regrowing. Daddy says that her owner does not really want her as he has three other dogs ( including Saffy) and he has no time to train Ruby. I did wonder if she could come and live here – I could share her extensive wardrobe.
There is a stray dog about – a Sazuki or something like that – I don’t want it to come and live here, I hope Mummy won’t encourage it. Today whilst I was out with Daddy walking in the next field, a big dog came after me – it did not obey its owner and go back but came right up to me and snapped at me. Daddy picked me up ( no mean feat as I am heavy) adnd shushed the dog away. It was a boxer – brown and white with a frowning face. Next time Daddy is going to take a stick with him.
I had home made spaghetti bolognaise for lunch, it was delicious. Tomorrow I have chicken legs and I see there is a rabbit hanging in the greenhouse and so my menus are planned.
Rusty is not very well, she is breathing heavily, I think she is overweight, she has rolls of fat at the back of her neck and they ripple when Mummy combs her!
Now I am going to read my book – A Day in the Life of a Dog – back soon!

Sorry, I meant to write this last night but I fell asleep at the keyboard before I began! We went picking up yesterday. It was great fun and Daddy said I was perfect. I waited until I was told to “go” and then I ran and found the pheasants. It was very tiring as I had to leap fences, jump ditches and go through brambles.
Ruby is out of hospital and is at home resting. Saffy said that the vet shaved Ruby’s tummy and she is bald underneath – how horrid. We are shooting again on Saturday – Saffy is coming and Ruby may come too – just depends on how she feels. I know that Holly and Purdey will be coming – I just hope that horrid Monty is not there – he is the one that ate Ruby’s porkpie hat!
Saturday is the end of the shooting season but we have fishing to look forward to. I shall be allowed to go in the boat whilst Daddy fishes – he said he might take me to Scotland.
Now I am going to help Mummy pack some parcels and pluck a pheasant – I get to eat the liver!! Back tomorrow.
