Trout we caught!

Trout we caught!

I have an injured paw and it hurts and is throbbing.  It is swollen and I cannot get my Jimmy Choo sandals on – actually, they are borrowed from  Saffy!!  Rusty says I may have to have my paw cut off and have an artificial one – gosh, I do hope she is wrong.

The photo is of 3 trout that Daddy and I caught last time we went fishing – well, he caught them and I helped hustle them into the net!  I have eaten all three, Mummy baked them in the oven for me.

Now I have to go and have my paw bathed with salt water – I will report back very soon.

I was in big trouble on Friday! Mummy’s brother, Peter, and his wife came to leave their car here whilst they are away. Peter had light colored trousers on and I jumped up and made muddy paw marks on them!  Do you remember when I jumped up Mrs. Bayford’s  ( the coal merchant’s wife) and ruined her white trousers?  This was a similar incident and Mummy had to sponge Peter’s trousers and dry them with her hair dryer!
I have some good news! Instead of going to the kennels next week, I am going to stay with Ruby and Saffy! Steve says he will look after me and I am pleased about this as I was worried about going to a strange place. Also they have a BIG pond in their garden – maybe I can swim in it. Rusty is going to stay at home and Steve will come and feed her. She is pleased too as she likes her home comforts!
We are going fishing now, looks like trout will be on the menu tonight!

Here is another of my hose videos!  I got into trouble! If you look, you can see where the water sprays high in the air. The bedroom windows were open and the water went in and made Mummy’s bed wet!
I had a great birthday! I got a new bed, a big towelling bag which Daddy will ziip me into when I get wet shooting and I can dry off in it, a smelly mouse ( from Rusty ) and a special dinner of roasted rabbit.
Today I was measured as I have a to have a collar for when I go on vacation. It will have a tag in the shape of a silver bone attached to it with my name and Daddy’s telephone number on it. I take a size 6 collar according to Mummy. In two weeks time I shall be on vacation – I am still a bit worried about it but Rusty says it will be OK. I can take my favorite toy with me and Mummy says she will put some treats in a box for me.
Now we are going fishing for a bit – Daddy has a sore toe and cannot walk very well but he said that we will go to the lake and I can have a swim. Back soon.

I am so excited – only one more day and then it is my first birthday!  We are going to have a party and I have invited Saffy and Ruby. I told Rusty she could invite some people and she has asked that awful dog Monty ( the one who ate Ruby’s pork pie hat) and the Swan family and the Canada Goose family. Luckily neither the Swans or Canadas can come as their babies cannot fly yet!
I wonder what I shall get for presents – bones? A joint of beef? A new bed? Clothes – I would love a pair ( no, two pairs of Jimmy Choos) something like the ones in the pic!

Jimmy Choos - 2 pairs please!

They would be great on shoot days – I would be extra tall and could see where the pheasants have fallen.
it is only 2 and a half weeks until I go on holiday – I am a bit nervous about it but suppose I will settle in. Now I am going to be brushed as I am moulting and have a lot of dead fur.  Back soon

It has been very hot here again today and  I was allowed to play wtih the hose again! Last night we went fishing and I was in trouble.  Daddy had told me not to go into the water until he said so but I could not resist and I plunged in. I pretended not to hear him calling me to get out and swam off to the other side of the island that is in the middle of the lake.
I could hear him calling and sounding crosser by the moment and so I thought I had better go back.
My way was blocked by a family of Canada Geese that had come off the island into the water. There were both parents and 6 goslings. They were not pleased to see me bobbing up and down and they came towards me with outstretched necks and hissing.  This meant that I could not swim back the way I had come and I had to swim right round the island.  Daddy, in the meantime, was getting crosser and crosser – he was unaware of my encounter with the hostile geese. When I eventually reached land, he shut me in the Land Rover and I did not get to do my water retrieving
We are going out for a meal tonight and tomorrow we are having a WHOLE roast chicken. I must get my strength up before I am banished to my holiday quarters! Back tomorrow!

Gosh, it seems ages since I wrote anything!  Sorry about that – my days are so full now that I am nearly adult.
Most days we go to the wood in the mornings and check the traps for rats and squirrels and I have a swim in the pond. Then we come home and help Mummy pack her parcels – my role in this is to lie by the gate and bark if any delivery or postmen come so that Mummy knows they are there.
After lunch Daddy and I usually go to the river where he fishes and I do water retrieving. Then it’s home for dinner – best time of the day! Then we go for another walk and more training and then we water the greenhouse and I play with the hose. It is a devil of a thing and no matter how hard I try, I cannot stop the water coming out!
I have two important events on the horizon. It is my first birthday on June 13th – all presents gratefully received – Rusty tells me that I shall have a cake and all sorts of goodies! The other event is my holiday! Mummy and Daddy are going away and so Rusty and I are going back to where I was born. ApparantlyI shall have my own room with indoor and outdoor areas and I shall be taken for walks. Rusty will be in a different part to me but I can go and see her. I am a bit anxious about going away as I do not think there will be roast beef or salmon on the menu – Rusty says it will be dry food – ugh! But is only for 9 nights and Mummy does need a rest – sometimes she falls asleep at the computer.
Well, time for my evening stroll now – we are going to look for the badger who lives in the next field. More soon!

This is me doing my swimming training – it might take a while to load! Note my strong stroke and how I ride high in the water.  I love swimming!
We had great excitement with a family of rats in the garden but I was not allowed near them as they bite. Apparently Jessie, my predecessor caught one and it hung onto her lip and she had to have stitches in it!
I am going to do some hidden dummy training now – this is where Daddy hides the dummy and I have to find it by smell rather than sight! Back soon.

Today I was issued with a full size marrow bone and I love it!  It is hard going chewing on it but the marrow is so tasty – I am going to ask Rusty to put her paw in the end and scoop some out for me!  Speaking of Rusty……….  she insisted I put her photo in today’s blog – can you see how fat she is?!

I went fishing during the week with Daddy to a big lake and there were lots of those fierce white birds there. They were on the water and when I went to pass the time of day with them, they all stretched out their long necks and hissed at me. Most unsociable!
Tonight we are going out for a meal, well, Mummy and Daddy are and I have to stay in the Land Rover and Mummy usually brings me a piece of steak out!
I have a new mattress for my basket and so I am going to try it out now and have a snooze! Back soon!

Gosh! It is ages since I wrote anything – time flies by!
This morning we went to the builder’s merchant to get some paint. When we checked out through the security gate, a nice man gave me a biscuit – he has a big jar of them to give out to dogs! It was rather a small one, but better than nothing.
On Saturday we did water training and Ruby and Saffy came too. Guess what? That Saffy has one of the latest eight cup bikinis and she insisted on wearing it for training! She even has a matching sarong. Ruby who has always had an eye for hats, had a new neoprene cap with sequined ear flaps. But she came unstuck as she could not hear any commands as the hat was such a tight fit. Me, I just I had my usual black fur!
To my horror, I have heard the word diet being mentioned and I notice that my breakfast bowl of biscuits is no longer being issued to me. I do hope that rations are not being curtailed – I certainly cannot depend on Rusty to supplement my food intake – she has caught her annual mouse!
Daddy and I are going fishing now – I like barking at the ducks on the lake. The other day I barked at a very large white bird that was sitting on a nest and it stood up and hissed at me. I was a bit scared and so gave it the benefit of the doubt and ran off. Mummy said it was most probably a swan. Back soon!

Slip here!  Yesterday Daddy and I went over to the wood and Steve came with Saffy and Ruby. We alll had water training. Saffy was useless – she refused to get her ears wet and so swam in a most awkward manner and kept dropping the dummy. Ruby has a very splashy style, I slide through the water like a knife through butter!
My chance for a go a the new sandals nearly came today. Mummy was putting the laundry away in the bedroom and I followed her in – I espied the sandals and had one in mouth ready to cart it away. She saw me in the mirror and my attempt was foiled. I can wait!
This week Daddy and I are going lake fishing and I shall go in a boat for the first time in my life. And next weekend it is something called Easter and there will be lots of eggs! Rusty is being awfully silly and saying the eggs are made of chocolate – that cat is not all there! Back soon.
